The blue five: its back carries the Orhei church of St Dumitru, raised under Stephen the Great himself — the very ruler whose portrait is on the face. The face carries the coat of arms of Moldova and the words «REPUBLICA MOLDOVA», a portrait of Stephen the Great, a multicoloured national ornament, the value in figures and words, the governor's facsimile signature, the line of the anthem «PE-UN PICIOR DE PLAI, PE-O GURĂ DE RAI...», the victory sign «V», the year, the series and the number. The back shows, in a frame, the Church of St Dumitru in Orhei, inscribed «BISERICA SF. DUMITRU DIN ORHEI»; beside it the coat of arms of Stephen the Great, a stylised Trajan's Column and Column of the Infinite with a crescent between them, and the name «BANCA NAŢIONALĂ A MOLDOVEI».
The most interesting security features are a shaded watermark with the portrait of Stephen the Great, seen against the light; a metallised security thread embedded vertically in the paper; and a see-through register — held to the light the outline of the sun falls onto the crescent, and the «V» with the columns makes up the letter «M» for Moldova.
A note of the National Bank of Moldova. The bank gives the date it put this issue into circulation itself: on 15 August 2013. The whole Moldovan run is built to one pattern — Stephen the Great on the face, the denomination's own monument on the back. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
